I got this beautiful purple colored Lion Brand Homespun yarn for Christmas and I knew I wanted to make a shawl with it. I happened to have gray that had been sitting in my stash mocking me for some time now, and the colors work beautifully together. It was a simple pattern, I started it Tuesday afternoon and finished it last night.
It is amazingly warm and cozy. And since I've been battling a nasty cold this week and have spent much time in bed or lounged on the couch it's been great welcome today to have something to keep me nice and toasty when I'm up and about and not cuddled under my fluffy blankets.
I made 2 little changes to the pattern beyond the stripes. Firstly, instead of using size 13 needles I used 9 to get a denser knit and a smaller shawl. Secondly, instead of the crocheted edge, after the last pattern repeat (ending with the knit row on the WS/ row 12) I knit 2 more rows (garter stitch) and bound off.

12 Things That Don't Need Sweaters.
I want to meet the people who did some of these! I'm having troubles believing that the car is real and not photoshopped, it almost looks to perfect.
I just can't imagine the thought process or the boredom that would lead someone to knit a bike cover or a tree!
But I really want to make a few of these things now! Especially the beer cozy!

Quilled Monogram
For Christmas my sister got me a starter quilling kit. And I've been having fun playing around with it. And today I found a wonderful tutorial for a quilled monogram: Craftastical!: Tutorial: Quilled Monogram Letter.
But instead of cutting my own 1/4" strips, I used the 1/8" strips I already had. Which made for a finer design. I'm probably going to get some ribbon and do some more embellishing since I don't think I want to do a fancy paper background.
Welcome and Happy New Year!
With a new year comes a new experience, blogging! I've always thought it would be fun and a creative way for me to "journal" so to speak. So here I am three days into the new year with hopefully another wonderful hobby and I've got some high hopes for this year. Last year was so hectic with my husbands and my wedding, my husband jumping from temp job to temp job, and then us moving 4 hours away, I barely had time to breath. I'm not much of a resolution person but I'm thinking I just might make a few this year.
1. I'm finally going to get some of my crafty creations listed on Artfire and/or Etsy.
2. Save up for a house.
3. Work out more. I got a awesome exercise mat that hooks up to the TV! It's makes working out so much easier and go by so much quicker.
4. Write more to do lists. I get so much more done if I have a list of what I want to get done.
5. Take more pictures.
6. Read more. I used to read so much but over the last 3-4 years, I barely do any.
It's a simple list, nothing crazy. But I like having a fairly simple life, trying to much at once just spreads you to thin. I like to stay in focus of the things I really want in life.
